Pakistan seeks transformers, crane refurbishment for 1,000-MW Mangla hydro project

Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) seeks bids to supply generator step-up transformers and to refurbish powerhouse cranes for the 1,000-MW Mangla Dam hydroelectric project. Bids in separate solicitations are due December 2 and 17.

The United States agreed in 2012 to provide US$280 million to Pakistan to support improvements at Mangla and the 83-MW Kurram Tangi hydro project. WAPDA took bids in January and February for repair of gate valves and for supply of circuit breakers and transformers for Mangla.

In the first of two solicitations, WAPDA now seeks bids by 11 a.m. December 2 for Package III, Main Power Transformers, to design and supply three 220-kilovolt (168.75 MVA) primary generator step-up (GSU) transformers for Units 4-6, with options for design and supply of two 132-kV (168.75 MVA) primary GSU transformers for Units 1 and 2 and for three additional 220-kV (168.75 MVA) primary GSU transformers for Units 3, 9 and 10. Bid documents may be obtained from the address below until 11 a.m. December 1 for 5,000 rupees (US$49) by pay order, demand draft or call deposit receipt to Manager Finance (Hydel), WAPDA, Lahore, at HBL, Gardee Square Branch, Napier Road, Lahore, Account No. 1303-59.

In a second solicitation, WAPDA seeks bids by 11 a.m. December 17 for Package II, Powerhouse Cranes Refurbishment, to inspect and test cranes; report recommended rehabilitation and upgrade; design upgrades; and refurbish a 400-metric-ton lifting beam to 438-metric-ton capacity, a 35/5-ton draft tube gantry crane, 35-ton lifting beam for draft tube gates/stoplogs, small bridge and monorail cranes and two 200/30-ton overhead powerhouse cranes. Bid documents may be obtained until 11 a.m. December 16 for 5,000 rupees (US$49) by pay order, demand draft or call deposit receipt to Manager Finance (Hydel), WAPDA, Lahore, at HBL, Gardee Square Branch, Napier Road, Lahore, Account No. 1303-59.

Pakistan firm offers to be agent for cranes tender
