Meggitt announces new product for mechanical equipment monitoring

Meggitt VibroSmart

Technology manufacturer Meggitt Sensing Systems has released a new monitoring system for turbines, machinery and balance-of-plant equipment.

Called "VibroSmart", Meggitt said the product "can be a standalone safety assurance system for vibration-based machinery protection", in addition to providing "advanced diagnostic tools to inform and support asset management decisions."

The product differentiates itself from traditional rack-based systems, Meggitt said, in that it is designed and certified to work in harsh industrial environments with high temperatures and high mechanical stress. The units are ATEX Zone 2 (CSA Class I Division 2) certified and can be skid-mounted directly on equipment to be monitored.

The Swiss manufacturer said each two-channel module can operate independently, while multiple modules can be combined for API-standard machine monitoring functions. reported this past July that the company had opened a new office in Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil. The company is a division of Meggitt PLC (LSS: MGGT), which announced improvements to its line of Vibro-Meter proximity measuring system products last February.
