U.S. aid agency again extends call for worldwide engineering work including hydropower

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) again extended a call for information on small businesses able to provide design, construction supervision and other services for worldwide USAID projects including water resources work and hydroelectric dams. Responses now are due October 27.

USAID previously called for responses by October 10 and September 26. The agency recently pledged US$200 million toward development of the 4,500-MW Diamer Basha Dam hydroelectric project in Pakistan. It is taking bids October 27 to provide financial advisory services to Pakistan for that project.

USAID now seeks to determine the capabilities of small architect-engineer firms to provide design, construction supervision and other services for local capacity building, water resources, environmental/sanitary engineering, civil and industrial engineering, value engineering, industrial/chemical engineering, and power and telecommunications. Services would be provided for USAID Washington and USAID missions worldwide.

Areas of expertise include hydroelectric and other dams and storage reservoirs, agriculture and food security, economic growth and trade, education, health, and water and sanitation.

Responses are to help USAID gauge interest from small businesses to provide such services.

A sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. SOLOAA14000186 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses now are due by noon, Eastern time, October 27, by e-mail only, to the addresses below. In the subject line, reference "Sources Sought Notice – Small Businesses."
