Construction firm Ruhlin Company has begun a year-long celebration in conjunction with the Ohio-based company's centennial in 2015.

Ruhlin -- which has provided construction services for the Shenango River Dam and 6-MW Mahoning Creek, 35-MW Willow Island and 75-MW W.T. Love hydropower plants, amongst other projects -- was founded in 1915 before entering the hydroelectric market in 1965.

The company said it will use its 100th anniversary to "engage with clients, employees, partners, business leaders and local communities" through a year-long celebration, with highlights to include videos, a commemorative website and events.

"A 100th anniversary is a significant achievement, especially in this industry," said third-generation president Jim Ruhlin, Sr. "Few construction firms have a history as long as ours because they often fade away or get acquired. Our continuity demonstrates that we have been able to manage changes and challenges in the industry while holding firm to fundamental values of excellence that my grandfather established when he founded the company 100 years ago."

Ruhlin is just the sixth president in the company's history. The firm has been employee-owned since 1977.

The company said it will release additional details about the celebration in January at its centennial website here.
