France's Somme Department has awarded a contract to a French consortium to rehabilitate three dams and to construct fish passage at two of them on the Somme River.

The Conseil General de la Somme awarded contracts totaling 6.48 million euros (US$8.21 million) to Groupement Perrier/Rouby/Revet/Ciema of Rethel, France. The agency took bids for the work in January.

The agency awarded three lots to the consortium:

  • Lot 1: Site Long Superieur, rehabilitation of the dam and options to construct fish passage and install paving, 2.1 million euros (US$2.66 million);
  • Lot 2: Site Long Inferieur, rehabilitation of the dam and options to reinforce or construct embankments, 1.77 million euros (US$2.24 million);
  • Lot 3: Site Pendu a Amiens, rehabilitation of the dam and options to construct fish passage and to reinforce embankments, 2.6 million euros (US$3.3 million).

The Conseil General de la Somme governs public services in the Somme Department of northern France. A French municipal water supplier took bids in March to perform dam safety improvements to Graon Dam on the Graon River in France's Vendee Department.
