U.S. seeks generator-motor stator replacement at 600-MW Carters Dam

Carters Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to manufacture replacement stator components at Carters Pumped-Storage facility, part of the 600-MW Carters Dam hydroelectric project in Georgia. Bids are due Oct. 15.

The Corps' Mobile District sought information in April on firms able to perform the work. Carters Dam was built in 1977 on the Coosawattee River for flood control and hydropower. Two of its units, Nos. 3 and 4, are reversible pump-turbines. The Corps awarded a contract in 2011 to Hydro Power Services LLC to repair cracks in blades of Units 1 and 2.

The Mobile District now seeks bids to design, manufacture, test and deliver stator laminations, stator windings and accessories for two generator-motors manufactured by General Electric. Work includes disassembly of units, installation of new equipment, cleaning and testing of rotors, and furnishing and installing of air coolers.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127814R0069 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due by 2 p.m., Central time, Oct. 15. For information, contact Jason Johnston, Contract Specialist, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, P.O. Box 2288, 109 Saint Joseph St., Mobile, AL 36628-0001; (1) 251-690-3348; E-mail: jason.c.johnston@usace.army.mil.
