U.S. seeks firms for fishway temperature improvements at 810-MW Lower Granite Dam

Lower Granite Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to build structures to provide fishway temperature improvements at 810-MW Lower Granite Dam on the Snake River in Washington. Responses are due Oct. 2.

The Corps' Walla Walla District took bids in September to perform major construction to upgrade the juvenile fish passage facility at Lower Granite. The Corps also issued a $2.7 million contract in July to Engineered Heavy Services LLC to modify a juvenile fish collection channel at the project. Other recent actions involving fish passage include a call for a lamprey migration and passage study at Lower Granite and three other projects.

In a sources sought notice, the Walla Walla District now seeks information on firms able to carry out a construction project for fishway temperature improvements at Lower Granite. Responses will be used to determine the type of solicitation to be issued.

The work is to promote adult fish passage within the Lower Granite fish ladder by providing cooler water using deeper forebay withdrawal structures and a modified discharge release structure. Forebay withdrawal structures include a chimney and two extension housings, allowing for an intake depth 66 feet below forebay elevation. The discharge release for auxiliary Pumps 1 and 2 will be modified to include additional piping and support structure on the face of the dam.

The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

The sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF14RSS65 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses are due by e-mail to the address below by 10 a.m. Oct. 2. For information, contact Cynthia Jacobsen, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, CENWW-CT, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7203; E-mail: cynthia.h.jacobsen@usace.army.mil.
