Papua New Guinea seeks hydro program consultant, EPC contractor for 3-MW Ramazon hydro project

Papua New Guinea utility PNG Power Ltd. invites expressions of interest for a program implementation specialist as well as bids for engineering, procurement and construction of the 3-MW Ramazon hydroelectric project on Papua New Guinea's Ramazon River. Responses are due July 4 and September 22.

With a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the government is implementing a Town Electrification Investment Program that includes development of six hydropower projects, initially comprising Ramazon and the 3-MW Divune hydro project, as well as construction of the Lake Hargy Interconnection, a transmission line giving grid access to 1 MW of spare capacity from the 3-MW Lake Hargy hydropower project. PNG Power took bids in April for EPC construction of Divune at Popendetta in Oro Province.

ADB also is funding the Port Moresby Grid Development Project, which recruited hydropower engineers in October.

Implementation specialist sought for renewables, hydro program

PNG Power invites expressions of interest by July 4 for a program implementation specialist for the Town Electrification Program to improve power supply through replacement of diesel power with renewable energy, including construction of six run-of-river hydropower plants to supply provincial centers, construction of transmission systems, and utility capacity building.

The specialist is to advise PNG Power on procurement and project management, prepare terms of reference, prepare budget projections and audit loan accounts. The work is expected to require 13 months with a budget of US$265,000.

PNG Power seeks EPC contractor for 3-MW Ramazon hydro

PNG Power seeks bids by September 22 for engineering, procurement and construction of the 3-MW Ramazon hydropower project. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled July 15 followed by a site visit July 16-17.

To be built in Buka, Bougainville Region of Papua New Guinea, Ramazon is to feature two turbine-generators with a design discharge of 5 cms and gross head of 65 meters. The contract is to cover civil, hydro-mechanical, mechanical and electrical works.
