U.S. seeks cavitation repair at 6,809-MW Grand Coulee, 428-MW Hungry Horse hydro projects

Grand Coulee Hydropower Project

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids for turbine runner cavitation repair at the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee hydroelectric project in Washington and the 428-MW Hungry Horse hydro project in Montana. Registration is by May 16 for a May 21 site visit, with bids due June 5.

Reclamation put a new control system on line in April at Grand Coulee. It also took bids in January to replace fire-damaged electrical equipment at the project. The agency took bids last year to replace switchgear at Hungry Horse. Hydro Services LLC won a cavitation repair contract at Hungry Horse in 2013.

Reclamation now seeks bids for a five-year contract for welding of surface erosion and cavitation in stainless steel turbines at both plants. The work features confined space and access, and performance periods limited to scheduled outages. The work is valued at $5 million to $10 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. R14PS00077 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. A site visit is scheduled for 10 a.m., Pacific time, May 21. Registration for the visit must be made by May 16 to Rita Grittner at (1) 509-633-3965.

Bids are due June 5. For information, contact Michael Stanard, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation, Pacific Northwest Regional Office, Acquisition Management Division, 1150 N. Curtis Road, Suite 100, Boise, ID 83706; (1) 208-378-5113; E-mail: mstanard@usbr.gov.
