Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has extended the deadline for bids to construct a 3-MW hydroelectric project near Chilas on Thak Nullah in Diamer District of Pakistan's Gilgit Baltistan Region. Bids now are due June 17.

WAPDA previously called for bids by May 20. In 2013, Gilgit Baltistan took bids for turnkey construction of the 4-MW Thak Chilas hydro project on Pakistan's Thack Nallah. Nullah and Nallah translate as stream or gully in southern Asia. The regional government sought construction supervision for that project in 2012.

To fund the Thak Nullah hydro project for model villages, WAPDA now says it plans to allot some government funds appropriated for the 4,500-MW Diamer Bhasha (or Basha) hydroelectric project proposed nearby on the Indus River.

The 3-MW project features a diversion weir, intake head regulator, connecting channel, sediment exclusion tank, power channel, steel penstock, powerhouse, tailrace, control room, plant buildings, hydro-mechanical equipment, hydraulic steel structures and electrical equipment.

WAPDA seeks bids from firms licensed by the Pakistan Engineering Council, with foreign firms able to participate in joint ventures with Pakistani firms.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from the address below for 5,000 rupees (US$51). Bids now are due by 11 a.m. June 17.
