State utility Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (UJVNL) has extended the deadline for applications for pre-qualification to construct the 300-MW Lakhwar multi-purpose hydroelectric project on the Yamuna River in India's Uttarakhand State. Responses now are due May 28.
UJVNL previously invited applications for pre-qualification by March 26.
Lakhwar, planned as a peaking power station, includes a 204-meter-tall concrete dam. The multi-purpose scheme also envisions construction of the 120-MW Vyasi hydroelectric project. UJVNL took bids last year to refurbish the 51-MW Dhalipur and 33.75-MW Dhakrani hydroelectric projects.
UJVNL seeks to pre-qualify construction companies to carry out the balance of civil works of Lakhwar including construction of the dam, diversion works, intake, pressure shafts, collection chamber, underground powerhouse and tailrace tunnel.
Applicants may obtain updated pre-qualification documents from the utility's Internet site, www.ujvnl.com, and submit a document fee of 100,000 rupees (US$1,636) with its application for pre-qualification.
