Benin seeks studies of three hydro projects on Oueme River

The government of Benin invites expressions of interest from consultants to update feasibility studies and perform draft detailed studies of three hydroelectric projects on the Oueme River in Benin. Responses to three solicitations are due May 20.

Benin has been developing the 147-MW Adjarala hydroelectric project and rehabilitating the 65-MW Nangbeto hydro project. Both are on the Mono River on the border with Togo. With funding from the World Bank, utility Communaute d'Electricite du Benin previously recruited consultants to improve its management in anticipation of new hydropower development.

With World Bank funding under the Competitiveness and Integrated Growth project, Benin now seeks consultants to update feasibility studies and perform draft detailed studies of the 79-MW Vossa, 30-MW Beterou and 29-MW Olougbe Ter hydroelectric projects on the Oueme River.

Each of the projects would require information collection and review of existing project documents; interviews with strategic stakeholders; update of technical and economic feasibility; integration of hydroelectric facilities with other functions such as drinking water, irrigation, fish farming, industry, tourism and flood control; and performance of draft detailed studies. The work on each project is expected to require six months.

Expressions of interest in French for each of the projects are due by 10 a.m. May 20 to the address below.
