U.S. seeks firms to replace generator-motor stators at 600-MW Carters Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to manufacture replacement stator components at Carters Pumped-Storage facility, part of the 600-MW Carters Dam hydroelectric project in Georgia. Responses are due April 25.

Carters Dam was built in 1977 on the Coosawattee River for flood control and hydropower. Two of its units, Nos. 3 and 4, are reversible pump-turbines. The Corps' Mobile District awarded a contract in 2011 to Hydro Power Services LLC to repair cracks in blades of Units 1 and 2.

In a sources sought notice, the Mobile District seeks information on firms able to design, manufacture, test and deliver stator laminations, stator windings and accessories for two generator-motors manufactured by General Electric. Responses are to be used to determine the type of solicitation to be issued for the work.

The sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127814L0007 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.
