U.S. seeks firms for gate repairs at Raystown Dam in Pennsylvania

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to repair tainter gates at Raystown Lake Dam on the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River at Hesston. Responses are due May 5.

The Corps' Baltimore District awarded a contract in 2012 to R. Zoppo Corp. to repair gate seals at Raystown.

Although the flood control structure is owned and operated by the Corps, Raystown Lake Dam is the location of the 21-MW William F. Matson hydroelectric project (No. 2769) operated by Alleghany Electric Cooperative.

In a sources sought notice, the Corps now says it seeks information on firms able to perform Phases 2 and 3 of gate repair at Raystown. Responses are to help the agency determine the type of solicitation to be issued.

Work is to include repair of delaminated skin plate, cathodic protection, pitting repairs and installation of government-furnished seals for the tainter gates, which measure 45 feet square. The work is valued at $500,000 to $1 million.

The sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912DR14S0021 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses are due May 5. For information, contact Peter G. Zizos, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, 10 S. Howard St., Baltimore, MD 21203; (1) 410-962-5611; E-mail: peter.g.zizos@usace.army.mil.
