U.S. seeks firms for digital governor commissioning at Northwest hydro plants

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to providing digital governor commissioning and training services at Corps hydroelectric projects in the Portland, Seattle and Walla Walla districts. Responses are due April 23.

The government previously purchased American Governor retrofit kits to convert mechanical governors to digital governors. The Corps awarded American Governor Co. a contract in 2008 to design, manufacture, and deliver replacement digital governors for hydropower plants in the three districts. The Corps took bids in 2010 to install new digital governor equipment at its 21 hydroelectric projects in the Pacific Northwest.

In a sources sought notice, the Portland District now seeks firms with the ability to provide engineers, programmers, trainers and computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) technicians for American Governor brand digital governors. The contractor also is to provide operation and maintenance manuals for digital governors. Installation services are not needed. The Corps plans to use responses from the notice to determine the type of solicitation to be issued.
