The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to supply more than 1 million passive integrated transponder tags for fish passage monitoring in the Columbia River Basin. Bids are due April 23.

The latest solicitation by the Corps' Walla Walla District replaces a tender issued in January that is withdrawn. The district last year awarded a contract to Radio Frequency Identification Solutions SL to supply large quantities of PIT tags. The National Marine Fisheries Service also took bids to supply 50,000 PIT tags for use in the federal Columbia River Basin hydropower system. Passive integrated transponder transmitters have been used extensively to track fish as they travel past radio receivers in hydroelectric projects on the mainstem Columbia River.

In the current solicitation, the Walla Walla District seeks bids to supply PIT tags under three options of 350,000 tags each. They are to be used at various locations in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF14Q0111 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due April 23. For information, contact Kent Bernard, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7205; E-mail: kent.r.bernard@usace.army.mil.
