Pakistan seeks valves to refurbish 243-MW Warsak hydro project

Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) seeks bids to supply valves as part of work to rehabilitate the 243-MW Warsak hydroelectric project on Pakistan's Kabul River. Bids are due May 19.

WAPDA took bids in March to rehabilitate a turbine runner and wicket gates at Warsak. It took bids in 2011 for protection, instrumentation, and control equipment for rehabilitation and upgrading of the project. It recruited consultants in 2009 to study and design rehabilitation and upgrading of Warsak, which was completed in 1960.

Located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Warsak includes four 40-MW generating units, dam, irrigation tunnels, and transmission system. Two 41.48-MW units were added in 1980-1981.

WAPDA now seeks bids to supply butterfly and gate valves for the project.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from General Manager (Hydel) Operation, WAPDA, 185 WAPDA House, Lahore for 1,000 rupees (US$10.20) by pay order or bank draft to Manager Finance (Hydel), WAPDA, Lahore, Account No. 1303-59, HBL Gardee Square Branch, Lahore or from Chief Engineer (Hydel) North, WAPDA, Warsak for 1,000 rupees (US$10.20) by pay order or bank draft to R.E. Warsak, Account No. 361, payable at Habib Bank Ltd., Warsak Branch.
