Italy utility seeks valves for 15.6-MW Mallero 1, 4.4-MW Mallero 2 hydro projects

Italian renewable energy operator Enel Green Power S.p.A. seeks bids to supply replacement valves for 15.6-MW Mallero 1 and 4.4-MW Mallero 2 hydroelectric projects in Sondrio Province of Italy's Lombardy Region. Bids are due May 20.

Enel Green Power recently called for bids by April 29 to provide mechanical maintenance and spare parts for about 136 hydroelectric projects including Mallero 1 and 2. Enel Green Power's parent, Enel S.p.A., has an installed hydroelectric capacity of 30,265 MW in 780 plants, 430 of which have a capacity of less than 10 MW. In 2009, it qualified hydro equipment suppliers to provide turbines and generators to projects in its Italian hydroelectric system.

Enel Green Power now seeks bids to supply replacement valves to Mallero 1, built in 1911 with one horizontal Pelton turbine, and Mallero 2, built in 1916 with two vertical Francis turbines. The work is valued at 510,000 euros (US$704,130).
