Italy utility seeks maintenance, parts for 136 hydroelectric projects

Italian renewable energy operator Enel Green Power S.p.A. seeks bids to provide mechanical maintenance and spare parts for about 136 hydroelectric projects in four Italian regions. Bids are due April 29.

Enel Green Power's parent, Enel S.p.A., is Italy's largest power company, operating in 40 countries. It has an installed hydroelectric capacity of 30,265 MW in 780 plants, 430 of which have a capacity of less than 10 MW. In 2009, it qualified hydro equipment suppliers to provide turbines and generators to projects in its Italian hydroelectric system. Last year, Enel Green Power and hydrokinetic developer 40South Energy began installing a 100-kW wave energy unit in the sea near Punta Righini in Italy.

Enel Green Power now seeks bids to provide mechanical maintenance and spare parts for about 63 hydro plants in Lazio and Abruzzo regions, about 26 plants in Piedmont Region, and about 47 plants in Lombardy Region. Equipment includes turbines, pumps, generators, valves, gates, rakes and controls. The work is valued at 4.1 million euros (US$5.6 million).

The utility grouped the hydro plants into eight lots:

  • Lot 1, Morino and Montelungo unit in Lazio-Abruzzo, value 600,000 euros (US$826,415): Morino plants Balsorano, Canistro, Morino, Schioppo 1, Schioppo 2,; Montelungo plants Carpino 1, Carpino 2, Colleromano, Fontana Liri, Fontecupa, Fossanova, Guarcino, Sant'Agnello, Ponte Annibale, Vadocusano, Suio;
  • Lot 2, Villa S. Maria and Piano d'Orta unit in Abruzzo, value 750,000 euros (US$1 million): Villa S. Maria plants Barrea (dam) at Alanno Scalo, Villa S. Maria, Aventino 1, Lama Dei Peligni, Barrea (dam) at Tocco da Casauria; Piano d'Orta plants Alanno at Alanno Scalo, Alanno dam, Bolognano Via Nazionale, Farindola, Molina Aterno, Pescara 1 Salto Tremonti, Pescara 1 Salto–Opera di presa, Pettorano, Pietre Regie, Scanno, Triano Viale Unita, Triano–Opera di presa, Triano–Vasca di carico, Nocciano, Bolognano FV Via Nazionale Tiburtina, Triano FV Viale Unita;

  • Lot 8, Ludrigno unit in Lombardy, value 400,000 euros (US$550,937): Brasa, Degnone, Gandellino, Ludrigno Acqualina, Ludrigno Serio, Mura, Ogna Inferiore, Ogna Superiore, Rino, Tagliuno.
