India's NHPC Ltd. seeks bids to replace existing governors with microprocessor-based digital governor systems at the 180-MW Baira Siul hydroelectric project in India's Himachal Pradesh State. Bids are due April 30.

NHPC recruited suppliers in 2008 for automation and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment for Baira Siul and five other projects. The hydro developer is pre-qualifying firms in May to construct the 800-MW Tawang 2 hydro project in Arunachal Pradesh State.

In 2005 NHPC sought firms to supply a computerized maintenance management system for Baira Siul and seven other projects. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. received a contract in 1999 to renovate project machinery damaged by excessive silt at Baira Siul, a run-of-river plant on three tributaries of the Ravi River, the Baira, Siul and Bhaledh rivers.

NHPC now seeks online bids from domestic bidders registered in India to remove existing governor systems and replace them with three microprocessor-based digital governing systems.

Tender documents may be obtained from the NHPC Internet site, under www.nhpcindia.com/tenders.htm?Tid=10743, or from the MSTC bidding site, www.mstcecommerce.com/eprochome/nhpc.

Bids are due via the MSTC site by 11 a.m. April 30. For information, contact M.
