Canada utility seeks civil engineering for dams, other facilities

Keeyask Hydropower Plant

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro seeks bids for a broad range of civil engineering services to its dams, hydroelectric projects and other facilities in Manitoba. Bids are due April 29.

Manitoba Hydro recently called for bids by April 23 to construct two shore stations interconnecting two of its hydroelectric projects. The utility awarded a contract in March to BBE Hydro Constructors Limited Partnership to build the 695-MW Keeyask hydroelectric plant on the Lower Nelson River. It recently signed a memorandum to investigate sale of up to 600 MW of hydropower to U.S. cooperative Great River Energy.

Manitoba Hydro said it now seeks a broad range of civil engineering consulting services related to its facilities and infrastructure. Work could include geotechnical engineering, hydro-technical engineering, materials engineering, hydro-structural engineering, general structural engineering, ice engineering and additional services.
