U.S. to seek design, replacement of gates at 80-MW Denison Dam

Denison Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids for design-build replacement of three flood gates at the 80-MW Denison Dam hydroelectric project in Texas.

The Corps' Tulsa District took bids in February to replace two turbine runners at Denison Dam. The project forms Texoma Lake on the Red River in Texas. The Corps took bids in 2011 for events recording and warning equipment at Denison and seven other hydroelectric projects in Oklahoma and Texas.

The Tulsa District previously requested information on firms capable of replacing flood gates and rehabilitating liners at Denison. The proposed solicitation now will expand that work to include a design-build phase for three 9-foot by 19-foot vertical lift gates.

The Corps said it expects to issue a solicitation, set aside for small businesses, in March for what it called Phase 1, the design-build portion of the work. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912BV14R0020 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. A site visit is to be scheduled.
