Papua New Guinea utility PNG Power Ltd. seeks bids for engineering procurement and construction of the 3-MW Divune hydroelectric project at Popendetta in Oro Province. Bids are due April 11.
With a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the government is implementing a Town Electrification Investment Program that includes the Divune project.
ADB also is funding the Port Moresby Grid Development Project, which recruited hydropower engineers in October. PNG Power also called for consultants last year to serve as procurement adviser to its Energy Sector Development Project, which includes development of the 80-MW Naoro Brown hydroelectric project. ADB recruited consultants in 2012 to prepare a cascade management plan including refurbishment or expansion of the five-plant 66.2-MW Rouna hydroelectric cascade.
PNG Power now seeks bids for design, engineering, procurement and construction of the run-of-river Divune project, which is to feature two turbine-generators with a design discharge of 6.3 cms and gross head of 95 meters. The contract is to cover civil, hydro-mechanical, mechanical and electrical works.
