Andritz Hydro has been awarded a US$55 million contract from utility Lyse Produksjon AS to supply electromechanical equipment for the Lysebotn 2 hydropower project.

Andritz (OP: ADRZF) will supply two 185 MW, high-pressure Francis turbines, two generator units, hydraulic steelwork and steel linings for the plant, which will replace the existing Lysebotn facility.

The company said that the units are being designed for frequent starting and stopping due to a "favorable reservoir situation".

Commissioning is expected for Spring 2018. Andritz said the new Lysebotn plant represents a 14% increase in annual generation compared to the current plant.
