The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to supply passive integrated transponder tags for fish passage monitoring in the Columbia River Basin. Bids are due Feb. 6.

The Corps' Walla Walla District last year awarded a contract to Radio Frequency Identification Solutions SL to supply large quantities of PIT tags. The National Marine Fisheries Service also took bids to supply 50,000 PIT tags for use in the federal Columbia River Basin hydropower system. Passive integrated transponder transmitters have been used extensively to track fish as they travel past radio receivers in hydroelectric projects on the mainstem Columbia River.

In the current solicitation, the Walla Walla District plans to award an indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract for PIT tags to be used at various locations in Washington, Idaho and Oregon. It gave notice to prospective bidders that they are required to ship a lot of 200 tags to the contracting office for independent testing prior to the closing date of the solicitation.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF14Q0050 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due Feb. 6. For information, contact Gary Weir, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7223; E-mail: gary.weir@us.army.mil.
