Tidal technology and project developer Atlantis Resources Limited has named a new non-executive chairman as it moves toward an initial share sale on the London Stock Exchange, the Singapore-based group has announced.

Joining Atlantis is John Neill, who currently serves as chairman and chief executive of Unipart. Neill also serves as a non-executive director of Rolls-Royce plc, having previously served as director of the Court of the Bank of England and a non-executive director of the Royal Mail and Charter International plc.

"To have recruited a chairman of John's caliber, experience and profile is a tremendous boost for Atlantis Resources and a further endorsement of the potential of the business we have built," company CEO Tim Cornelius said. "John's input will be especially valuable as we review options for the next stage of development, which include a potential listing in London."

Neill's involvement with Atlantis comes shortly after the group announced it had acquired the 398-MW MeyGen tidal array in Scotland's Pentland Firth.

"After many years of technology development, I believe that tidal energy, which can offer clean, predictable and sustainable electricity generation with minimal environmental and visual impact, has significant potential," Neill said.
