Pakistan seeks valve repair, electrical equipment for 1,000-MW Mangla Dam

Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) seeks bids for repair of gate valves and for supply of circuit breakers and transformers for the 1,000-MW Mangla Dam hydroelectric project. Bids in separate solicitations are due January 22 and February 11.

The United States agreed in 2012 to provide US$280 million to Pakistan to support improvements at Mangla and the 83-MW Kurram Tangi hydro project. WAPDA recruited firms in 2013 to refurbish turbine-generators and in 2012 to supply testing and monitoring equipment for Mangla.

In the first of two solicitations, WAPDA now seeks bids by 11 a.m. January 22 to repair high-pressure gate valves for cooling water and dewatering systems at Mangla. Bid documents may be obtained from the address below until 11 a.m. January 21 for 1,000 rupees (US$9.50) by pay order or bank draft to Resident Engineer, Power Station Mangla at Habib Bank Ltd., Mangla Cantt. Branch, Account No. 12297900272803. Bids are due by January 22.

In a second solicitation, WAPDA seeks bids by 11 a.m. February 11 for supply of 132-kilovolt and 220-kV SF6 circuit breakers and current transformers along with allied equipment. Bid documents may be obtained until 11 a.m. February 10 from:
