Pacific Gas & Electric seeks deputy chief dam safety engineer

California-based Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (NYSE: PCG) seeks applications from candidates to serve as deputy chief dam safety engineer for dams and related facilities in the utility's hydroelectric system.

PG&E operates the largest privately owned hydroelectric system in the United States including 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstock, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands comprising 26 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission hydropower licenses.

The deputy chief dam safety engineer manages and evolves PG&E's hydropower facilities safety program to ensure public and employee safety and compliance with requirements of FERC and the California Division of Safety of Dams. The engineer is the primary internal contact and decision-maker for all facility safety emergencies involving the company's dams and appurtenant facilities.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, a professional engineering license, and 10 years' experience in civil engineering and five years' experience in dam safety.
