El Salvador utility Comision Ejecutiva Hidroelectrica del Rio Lempa (CEL) seeks bids to supply and install a wave energy and marine current measuring station off the coast of El Salvador. Bid documents may be obtained until January 10, with bids due March 18, 2014.

CEL also is pre-qualifying firms by January 15 to construct the 65.8-MW El Chaparral hydroelectric project. Other types of renewable energy investment in El Salvador and neighboring Central American countries are being funded by the European Investment Bank and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

As the result of a study completed by Fundacion Agustin de Betancourt of Spain, CEL seeks installation of a wave energy and marine current measuring station in the area of Toluca-La Libertad. The station is to include an acoustic wave and current (AWAC) profiler on the sea bottom, a multi-function oceanographic buoy on the surface, a two-way telemetry system, and a wave and current observation center in the CEL central office in San Salvador.

Bidding information and documents may be obtained from El Salvador's procurement site on the Internet under http://www.comprasal.gob.sv/moddiv/HTML/detallelicitacion.jsp?CodigoLicitacion=CEL-LP%2001/14&CodigoInstitucion=4106. Bid documents also may be obtained until January 10.
