The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to replace the hydropower conduit coating and lining systems at 75-MW Blakely Mountain Dam on Arkansas' Ouachita River. Bids are due Dec. 17.
The Corps' Vicksburg District operates Blakely Mountain, built in 1953, for hydropower, flood control, water supply, and recreation. The Vicksburg District awarded contracts in 2012 for flood control works at Enid Dam and Sardis Dam in Mississippi. It took bids in 2010 for dam break flood mapping at more than 600 dams.
In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Corps now seeks bids for all plant, labor, materials, and equipment, and rehabilitation of the power conduit coating and lining systems at Blakely Mountain Dam, which forms Lake Ouachita in Garland County, Ark. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.
