U.S. seeks bids to refurbish trashracks at 120-MW Parker Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to refurbish trashracks at 120-MW Parker Dam on the Colorado River. Bids are due Sept. 5.

Reclamation and the Western Area Power Administration took bids in July and August to supply substation circuit breakers and acoustic velocity meters and to paint penstock gates and refurbish fixed-wheel gate assemblies at Parker.  Reclamation awarded a contract in 2011 to Inland Potable Services Inc. to supply a trashrack cleaner for the forebay inlet of Parker Dam to remove quagga mussels and aquatic plants, alleviate low flow velocities, and retrieve collected debris.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, Reclamation now seeks bids to fabricate 12 new steel trashrack guide rails and 24 new steel upper trashrack panels. Deteriorated existing equipment is to be removed and disposed by the contractor. Most of the work is to be performed during drawdown of Lake Havasu from December 2013-February 2014.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R13PS30402 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due Sept. 5. For information, contact Dennis Campbell, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation - LC - Lower Colorado Regional Office, P.O. Box 61470 Boulder City, NV 89006; (1) 702-293-8569; E-mail: dlcampbell@usbr.gov.
