U.S. extends bidding for turbine-generator cooling coils for 250-MW Yellowtail Dam

Yellowtail Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids to supply turbine-generator bearing cooling coils for the 250-MW Yellowtail Dam hydroelectric project on the Big Horn River in Montana. Bids now are due Aug. 27.

Reclamation's Great Plains Regional Office previously called for bids by Aug. 5. Reclamation took bids in May to rewind and refurbish generators as well as to clean and recoat draft tubes, scroll cases, and head covers at Yellowtail.

The agency took bids in 2012 for grouting and inspection tunnel steel paneling at Yellowtail, one of five hydropower plants in the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin project. Eaton Corp. won a $1.7 million contract in 2009 for generator circuit breaker replacement at the project.

Reclamation now seeks bids to design, fabricate, and deliver four new turbine guide bearing cooling coils, four new lower guide bearing cooling coils, and 16 (four for each generator) new upper guide/thrust bearing cooling coils. No installation is required.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R13PS60391 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids now are due Aug. 27. For information, contact Alma Bergerson, Contracting Officer, Bureau of Reclamation, GP-5000, 2021 4th Ave. North, Billings, MT 59101; (1) 406-247-7801; E-mail: abergerson@usbr.gov.
