The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform feasibility studies on the use of renewable energy, including micro-hydropower projects, for rural electrification in Haiti. Responses are due August 28.

IADB recruited consultants in 2012 to perform social and environmental studies of the proposed 32-MW Artibonite 4C hydroelectric project on Haiti's Artibonite River. The bank also is helping fund rehabilitation of the 54-MW Peligre hydroelectric project. Alstom-Comelex received a contract from the government of Haiti to restore Peligre. (HydroWorld 2/16/12)

IADB now seeks consultants to perform feasibility studies to facilitate information on the potential of using renewable energy for rural electrification in Haiti. Consultants are to perform an effectiveness analysis comparing different generating options including wind power and micro-hydropower. Other work includes a benefit analysis and evaluation plan.

Expressions of interest are due by 6 p.m., Eastern time, August 28 via the IADB e-Sourcing Internet site,
