Kenya's Tanathi Water Services Board invites expressions of interest from consultants for design review and construction supervision of the Thwake multi-purpose water resources project. Responses are due August 30.
Kenya's Athi Water Services Board recruited firms in July for hydro feasibility studies for the Chania River Outfall and Thika Dam off-take sites as well as design and supervision of a Chania River Outfall hydroelectric project. The Ministry of Water and Irrigation recruited consultants in May for a dam safety panel for at least six dams and one hydro project. Norwegian engineering firm Norconsult recently won contracts to update design of Kenya's Yatta Dam and water supply project and to identify a multi-purpose water resources project in Kenya's Gucha Migori River Basin.
Tanathi Water Services Board now seeks consultants for design review and construction supervision of the Thwake multi-purpose water development program. Work is to include checking the layout, design, and stability of a 77-meter-tall by 1.6-kilometer-long rockfill dam, 60-meter-tall intake tower, three 2-meter-diameter penstocks, two 1.2-meter-diameter irrigation and water supply pipes, a 50-meter-wide and 900-meter-long concrete spillway, an emergency fuse plug spillway, access roads, and minor works.
Expressions of interest are due by 4 p.m. August 30 to the address below, labeled "Thwake Multi-purpose Water Development Program."
