Bank seeks consultants to study off-grid small hydropower model for Pakistan

The World Bank's International Finance Corp. (IFC) invites expressions of interest from consultants to recommend a business model for development of off-grid small hydropower projects in Pakistan. Responses are due September 11.

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammed Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the country's first privately owned hydropower project, 84-MW New Bong, in July. Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority currently is taking bids for work on 300-kW Winder Dam and 150-kW Ghabir Dam.

IFC seeks consultants to research commercial and semi-commercial approaches to off-grid small hydropower in order to identify successful models and gain an understanding of good and bad practice in the field. The consultant is to present findings and recommend a potential business model or models to be further examined.
