The World Bank's International Finance Corp. (IFC) invites expressions of interest from consultants to recommend a business model for development of off-grid small hydropower projects in Pakistan. Responses are due September 11.
Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammed Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the country's first privately owned hydropower project, 84-MW New Bong, in July. Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority currently is taking bids for work on 300-kW Winder Dam and 150-kW Ghabir Dam.
IFC seeks consultants to research commercial and semi-commercial approaches to off-grid small hydropower in order to identify successful models and gain an understanding of good and bad practice in the field. The consultant is to present findings and recommend a potential business model or models to be further examined.
Expressions of interest are due September 11, in English, electronically via the World Bank's eConsult Internet site, https://wbgeconsult2.worldbank.org/wbgec/index.html. A solicitation notice is available on the website under Business Opportunities, Selection No. 1119214.
