U.S. seeks circuit breakers, flow meters for 120-MW Parker Dam

U.S. government agencies are calling for bids to supply substation circuit breakers and acoustic velocity meters for 120-MW Parker Dam on the Colorado River. Bids in separate solicitations are due July 25 and Aug. 2.

The Bureau of Reclamation took bids in July to paint penstock gates and refurbish fixed-wheel gate assemblies at Parker. Reclamation awarded an electrical equipment contract to Koontz Electric Co. Inc. in 2007 to install unit controls, governor controls, relay protection, and voltage regulators at Parker and two other projects.

The Western Area Power Administration now seeks bids by July 25 from small businesses to replace five 161-kilovolt oil power circuit breakers with SF6 gas power circuit breakers, associated junction boxes, and electrical equipment at the Parker Dam substation. To be completed by May 2014, the work is valued at $500,000 to $1 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. DESOL0005690 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due July 25. For information, contact Eric Jordan, Contracting Officer, Western Area Power Administration, P.O. Box 6457, Phoenix, AZ 85005; (1) 602-605-2665; E-mail: ejordan@wapa.gov.

Reclamation seeks acoustic velocity meters for Parker

Reclamation also called for bids by Aug. 2 to supply acoustic velocity meters for Parker Dam. The agency previously planned to issue the solicitation in 2012.

Reclamation's Lower Colorado Regional Office seeks bids to supply time-transit acoustic velocity meters in four 22-foot penstocks. Work is to include installing transducers with an internal mount, wiring and cabling for communications, and AVM electronics in the control room and penstocks.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R13PS30171 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due Aug. 2. For information, contact Dennis Campbell, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation - LC - Lower Colorado Regional Office, P.O. Box 61470 Boulder City, NV 89006; (1) 702-293-8569; E-mail: dlcampbell@usbr.gov.
