The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to perform geophysical surveying of Isabella Dam on California's Kern River. Bids are due July 25.

The Corps' Sacramento District solicited information in January from firms capable of performing the work. The agency also took bids recently for development of a hydraulic model for dam safety work at the project.

Built in 1953 as a flood control and water conservation structure, Isabella Dam is being studied for remedial actions to prevent possible failure during earthquakes. Isabella Dam is the site of the 11.95-MW Isabella project (No. 8377).

The Corps now seeks bids for geophysical surveying of the dam, focusing on data collection below the realignment of the auxiliary dam and characterization of the bedrock around a proposed cut for the Borel canal realignment and spillway.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9123813R0011 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due by 11:59 p.m., Pacific time, July 25. For information, contact Robert Garcia, Contract Specialist, CESPK-CT-B, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, 1325 J St., Room 950, Sacramento, CA 95814; (1) 916-557-7229; E-mail: robert.s.garcia2@usace.army.mil.
