U.S. again extends bidding to refurbish penstock gates at 120-MW Parker

Parker Hydroelectric Project

The Bureau of Reclamation again extended the deadline for bids from small businesses to paint penstock gates and refurbish fixed-wheel gate assemblies at 120-MW Parker Dam on the Colorado River. Bids now are due July 9.

Reclamation previously called for bids by June 20 and July 2. It requested information in December on firms capable of performing the work. The agency previously said it planned to seek bids to supply acoustic velocity meters for Parker, on the California-Arizona border. Parker Dam also has been a testing site for silicon foul release coatings due to quagga and zebra mussel infestations.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, Reclamation's Boulder City office now seeks bids to paint three fixed-wheel penstock gates and refurbish 24 fixed-wheel assemblies per gate. The work is expected to cost from $1 million to $5 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R13PS30022 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids now are due July 9. For information, contact Rita Horkan, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation - LC - Lower Colorado Regional Office, P.O. Box 61470 Boulder City, NV 89006; (1) 702-293-8036; Fax: (1) 702-293-8499; E-mail: rhorkan@usbr.gov.
