Swiss seek turbine-generator replacements at 27-MW Bramois hydro project

Contractor Hydro Exploitation SA seeks bids to replace turbine-generators of the 27-MW Bramois hydroelectric project on the Rhone River in Switzerland. Bids are due July 27.

Hydro Exploitation is performing the work on behalf of project owner Forces Motrices de la Borgne, which is owned by Grande Dixence SA and area municipalities. Hydro Exploitation has worked on other projects recently including 290-MW Fionnay, 14.4-MW Farettes, and 1.6-MW Sonzier.

The contractor now seeks bids for two vertical Pelton turbine-generator units rated at flows of 5 cubic meters per second and 17.8 megavolt-amperes. The units are to replace the projects four horizontal turbine-generators. The work, including design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning, is to be performed between April 2014 and April 2018.

Bidding documents may be obtained until July 19 for 4,000 francs (US$4,224). Bids, in French, are due September 27.
