FERC receives application for 10-kW Corbett hydro project in Oregon

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission received a license application for a 10-kW hydro project on a water district system in Oregon during a slow month of May.

The Energy Infrastructure Update for May, compiled by FERC's Office of Energy Projects, listed an application for license by Corbett Water District for the 10-kW Corbett hydroelectric (No. 14322).

The project is to use the water district's existing water diversions on the North and South forks of Gordon Creek near Corbett in Multnomah County, Ore.

The report shows, for the year to date through May, FERC has received four applications for license totaling 36.11 MW and four applications for conduit exemptions totaling 552 kW. In the same period it has issued four licenses totaling 3.56 MW, two (maximum) 5-MW exemptions totaling 248 kW, three conduit exemptions totaling 500 kW, and two capacity amendments totaling 7.375 MW. Two hydro projects totaling 4.437 MW have been placed in service and two capacity amendments totaling 960 kW have gone into service during the year to date.

FERC, which previously used the infrastructure update as an in-house tool, began making the monthly update public beginning with December 2010. The report allows the public to track the activities of the Office of Energy Projects in the areas of hydropower, natural gas, electric generation, and electric transmission.

The Office of Energy Projects' Energy Infrastructure Update for May 2013 may be obtained from the FERC Internet site under http://www.ferc.gov/legal/staff-reports/2013/may-energy-infrastructure.pdf.
