Kaman releases tool for stator monitoring

Kaman Gap Checker

Technology manufacturer Kaman Precision Products has released a new instrument specifically designed to measure the rotor-stator gap in large-scale power generation applications.

The GMS-562RS, called the "Gap Checker", is a turnkey product that has a long insertion depth, adjustable insertion stops and an LED readout of gap in inches or millimeters, with a range of 0.250"-0.562" and a resolution of 0.001".

The Gap Checker features an all-metal construction and replaceable target springs, making it a "durable investment", Kaman said.

In addition, the units offer pushbutton calibration and tare while eliminating operator-dependent variations in collected data, making the Gap Checker easy to operate, according to the Colorado Springs-based company.
