Dam safety work sought for Swiss-French 49-MW Chancy-Pougny hydro project

Chancy-Pougny hydroelectric project

Hydro operator Societe de Forces Motrices de Chancy-Pougny SA (SFMCP) seeks bids for seismic reinforcement dam safety work at the 49-MW Chancy-Pougny hydroelectric project on the Rhone River on the border of Switzerland and France. A site visit is scheduled July 4 with bids due July 26.

SFMCP is jointly owned by Services Industriels de Geneve of Switzerland and Compagnie Nationale du Rhone (CNR) of France. CNR took bids in March to reinforce the dam of the 45-MW Seyssel project and to equip fish passage and a mini-hydro plant at the 60-MW Sauveterre project, both on the Rhone River in France.

SFMCP took bids in 2009 for civil works and electro-mechanical equipment for fish passage and a 500-kW micro-hydro plant utilizing fish attraction flows at 49-MW Chancy-Pougny. It previously upgraded Chancy-Pougny to 49 MW from 37 MW.

The hydro operator now seeks bids for seismic reinforcement of the Chancy-Pougny dam, including reinforcement of pillars by struts and rods, anchoring of a right bank abutment, reinforcement of cables, and concrete repair and reconstruction. The work is to require 34 months.

Bid documents may be obtained from the address below. A mandatory site visit is scheduled July 4. Bids, in French, are due by 4 p.m. July 26 to the address below.
