Albania's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection seeks bids for a rehabilitation project to refurbish Murriz Thana Dam in Fier/Shegan, Lushnje Fier, Albania. Bids are due July 12.
With financing from the World Bank for the Water Resources and Irrigation Project, the ministry recruited consultants in January to supervise rehabilitation and modernization of 14 dams including Murriz Thana.
In a separate program, the Albanian power corporation, Korporata Elektroenergjetike Shqiptare (KESH), pre-qualified firms in May and June to perform dam safety civil works at the 600-MW Komani hydroelectric project on Albania's Drin River. KESH also recruited consultants in April to develop a dam safety program and emergency preparedness plans for Komani and the 500-MW Fierze and 250-MW Vau i Dejes projects on the Drin.
The ministry now seeks bids for rehabilitation of Murriz Thana, which includes slope stabilization, upstream slope protection, construction of a retaining wall and reinforced concrete parapet, crest work, drainage, concrete repairs, and dam monitoring instrumentation.
