Yellowtail Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids to rewind and refurbish generators as well as to clean and recoat draft tubes, scroll cases, and head covers of the 250-MW Yellowtail Dam hydroelectric project on the Big Horn River in Montana. Bids now are due May 17.

Reclamation's Great Plains Regional Office previously called for bids by April 26. The agency took bids in 2012 for grouting and inspection tunnel steel paneling at Yellowtail, one of five hydropower plants in the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin project.

Reclamation said work is to include replacing generator stator cores and armature windings, refurbishing generator field poles, redesigning generator ventilation, and installing new generator air coolers. Other work is to include removal of existing coatings, hazardous materials abatement, and applying new coatings to scroll cases and doors, stay vanes, draft tubes and doors, and head covers.

The work is expected to cost between $25 million and $50 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R13PS60127 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.
