U.S. extends guide bearing bidding for 810-MW Lower Granite, 402-MW Dworshak

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for bids to rehabilitate turbine guide bearings at 810-MW Lower Granite and 402-MW Dworshak hydroelectric projects. Bids now are due Dec. 31.

The Corps' Walla Walla District previously called for bids by Dec. 14. Lower Granite is on the Snake River in Washington and Dworshak is on the North Fork Clearwater River in Idaho.

The Corps seeks a contractor to inspect and refurbish two separate turbine guide bearings at Lower Granite and Dworshak, with an option to perform similar work on another guide bearing at Lower Granite. The work is to include removal of existing babbitt, spin casting new babbitt, and possible refurbishment of the vertical split flange contact surfaces and outer diameter spigot fits, followed by machining and painting of the shells' exterior.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF13R0012 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids now are due Dec. 31. For information, contact Valerie K. Reller, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, CENWW-CT, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7215; Fax: (1) 509-527-7801; E-mail: valerie.k.reller@usace.army.mil.
