The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to rehabilitate spillway gates and to provide stoplogs for the work at Harlan County Dam in Nebraska. Responses to separate requests are both due Jan. 4.

The Corps' Kansas City District plans rehabilitation of two to three spillway tainter gates at Harlan County Dam, a rolled-earth embankment and concrete gravity dam built for flood control and irrigation on the Republican River in the 1950s. The dam, which impounds the second largest lake in Nebraska, includes a controlled spillway regulated by 18 tainter gates, nine sluice gates, and two irrigation outlets.

In sources sought notice W912DQ13R1004, the Corps seeks firms capable of strengthening structural steel components of the 40- by 30-foot gates, replacing existing trunnions and bearings, replacing gate chains, repairing or replacing electrical systems, and blasting and painting the gates.

In sources sought notice W912DQ13R1005, it seeks firms capable of providing a spillway dewatering structure for the tainter gate work, including 16 new stoplogs, four new pier gates, two support beams, a lifting beam, and a rigid template.

The Corps plans to use responses to the notices for market survey purposes to receive suggestions to make the work less difficult and to determine the type of solicitation to be issued.

The sources sought notices may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering the solicitation numbers above in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses are due to each notice by 4 p.m., Central time, Jan. 4. For information, contact Hilary O. Meckel or Robert F. Johnson, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, Attn: CENWK-CT, 700 Federal Building, 601 E. 12th St., Kansas City, MO 64106-2896; (1) 816-389-3500; E-mail: hilary.o.meckel@usace.army.mil, robert.f.johnson@usace.army.mil.
