Ecuador seeks studies, including hydro, of Rio Verde project

Ecuador's investment institute invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform feasibility studies, including hydropower potential, of the Rio Verde multi-purpose project on Ecuador's Rio Verde. Responses are due December 26.

Ecuador's Instituto Nacional de Preinversion (INP) issued a similar call for consultants in February to perform feasibility studies of the Tumbabiro multi-purpose project. The agency also recruited consultants in 2012 for studies of six small hydro projects in five provinces

INP now seeks studies of the technical, economic, social, and environmental pre-feasibility and feasibility of Rio Verde, as well as final designs for the project, which is planned to supply drinking water, irrigation, flood control, and possibly hydroelectric generation around the city of Rio Verde.

The work is expected to require 480 days with a budget of US$4.3 million.

Expression of interest forms may be obtained from the INP Internet site at

Expressions of interest are due by 3 p.m. December 26 by mail or e-mail to the address below. INP plans to invite a short-list of firms to submit proposals.
