Bank seeks consultant for small hydro data, mapping services

The World Bank invites expressions of interest from consultants to provide small hydropower resource mapping services over four years. Responses are due January 8, 2013.

The bank seeks consultants under the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) as part of an initiative covering four renewable energy sources: small hydropower, biomass, wind, and solar energy.

The current solicitation is to support sustainable expansion of electricity generation from small hydropower by providing governments and commercial developers an improved understanding of the location and potential of small hydro resources at the country level.

ESMAP support is to be available for resource mapping and geospatial planning, including, under the current solicitation:

  • Initial mapping based on satellite and ground-based data where available;
  • Ground-based data collection from installation of high-quality stream/river flow monitoring equipment at multiple sites; and
  • Production of a resource atlas incorporating improved model input data and ground-based data to help locate and quantify small hydropower potential and sites.

The World Bank invites expressions of interest from consultants for inclusion in an indefinite delivery framework agreement under which specific services would be contracted via task orders.
