Sri Lanka seeks design, supervision of Kaluganga headworks

The government of Sri Lanka seeks bids from consultants to perform design and construction supervision of the headworks of the Kaluganga Development Project, part of the Mahaweli River Development Program. Bids are due November 5.

Although not a hydroelectric project, Kaluganga Reservoir is to store monsoon runoff and transfer the water by canal and tunnel to Moragahakanda Reservoir, which is to feature a 20-MW hydro plant. The giant Mahaweli River program includes major dams Kotmale, Victoria, Randenigala-Rantambe, Maduru Oya, and Moragahakanda.

Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources Management seek consultants experienced in detailed design and engineering for construction of earth core rockfill dams.

Tender documents in English may be obtained until October 22 from the address below for 30,000 rupees (US$232) in cash. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled October 24 followed by a site visit October 25.
