Russian hydro operator RusHydro invites applications for pre-qualification to replace three Kaplan turbine-generators of the 346.4-MW Rybinskaya hydroelectric project. Responses are due October 22.
With funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, RusHydro has been seeking turbine-generators and switchgear for rehabilitation of plants in the 10,000-MW Volga-Kama hydropower cascade, including Rybinskaya (also called Rubinsk). Russia's Power Machines has been carrying out a contract to renovate Rybinskaya's Unit 2, to be completed in 2013.
RusHydro currently is pre-qualifying suppliers for three turbine-generators, Units 1, 3, and 5, and auxiliaries except for excitation and protection. The work is to require 81 months.
